D-SUB Connectors

The I/O connection system has been invaluable to electronic applications for many years. D-SUB Connectors – also known as D-Subminiatur or Sub-D connectors – are used in nearly all application markets, from control and measuring to telecommunications and computer applications. D-SUB connectors take their name from their characteristic D-shaped shell, which protects both sides of the connector from mechanical and electromagnetic interference.

  • CONEC D-SUB connectors are available in five standardized housing sizes in the variants D-SUB Standard, D-SUB High Density, D-SUB Filter, D-SUB Combination, D-SUB Filter Combination and D-SUB hoods. The combination of different contact types provides opportunities to save installation space and costs in the interface area.
  • The CONEC Snaplock mounting type is offered as a quick-connect system for common pole numbers. Depending on the mounting type and number of poles, a choice can be made between crimp, wire-wrap, solder pin, solder cup and insulation displacement terminal connection types.
D-SUB Standard/High Density (650)

In the D-SUB Standard/High Density range CONEC offers the possibility to choose from various numbers of poles, contact and connection types as well as thread designs.

  • In the D-SUB standard range, the numbers of poles 9, 15, 25, 37 and 50 are available. In addition, high-density versions are available with 15, 26, 44, 62 and 78 poles.
  • The CONEC Snaplock mounting system is offered as a quick-locking system for common pole numbers.
  • On the connection side, a choice can be made between through-hole, spacer bolt, threaded insert or plastic/metal angle. Depending on the mounting type and number of poles, the connection types crimp, wire-wrap, solder pin, solder cup and insulation displacement terminal are available.
D-SUB Combination (2389)

D-SUB Combination connectors offer the possibility to equip a proven design with new functionality. This is done by using different contact types without having to change the shape, size and installation dimensions of the connector itself. By using high-current contacts, the power supply of the device can be realized without an additional interface for the power supply. High-voltage contacts allow operating voltages of up to 2.8 kV.

  • Fast signal transmission over shielded coaxial lines is achieved with the use of special coaxial contacts. A choice can be made between the Combination D-SUB, Combination D-SUB High Density and Combination D-SUB Dual Port series.
  • In all variants, different combinations with signal, high current, high voltage or coaxial contacts are possible. The combination of different contact types offers interesting possibilities to save space and costs in the interface area. The connectors are always supplied with signal contacts, except for the crimp version. The high-current, high-voltage and coaxial contacts can be ordered separately or can be mounted in the connector at the factory.
D-SUB Filter (831)

With increasing data transmission rates and operating frequencies, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure the function of electrical devices and systems in each other’s environment in order to guarantee trouble-free operation. CONEC filter connectors help to dissipate conducted interference directly at the interface. This means that this interference does not reach the device in the first place. Space is also saved on the circuit board, as there is no need to install a complex filter on it. Filter D-SUB connectors are available as standard, high density or dual port.

  • As the connection dimensions are compatible with unfiltered connectors, it is also possible to add filtered interfaces to systems at a later date without great effort. As standard CONEC offers the C-filter. In this single-stage low-pass filter, each contact of the connector is connected with a capacitor to the connector housing (ground). Other options that can be used depending on the problem to be solved are the two-stage LC and the three-stage PI filters (C-L-C), which are also available in various cconnector configurations in the standard product range.
D-SUB Filter Combination (392)

D-SUB Filter Combination connectors from CONEC are equipped with the single-stage C-filter and are available in the versions 2W2C, 3W3C, 3W3, 5W5 and 8W8. Depending on the version, you can choose between the nominal capacities 1.3 nF, 5.0 nF, 10 nF, 12 nF, 47 nF and 100 nF as standard. Other capacitance values are available on request.

D-SUB Hoods (277)

CONEC offers a comprehensive range of hoods for a wide variety of requirements. Versions made of plastic, metallized plastic, plastic with integrated shielding plate and full metal versions with either straight or side cable entry are available. Special hoods for Combination D-SUB connectors have an extended inner area for coaxial and high-current contacts. The CONEC Snaplock hood is offered as a quick-locking system for common pole numbers. In addition to the hood variants, the CONEC range also includes shielding caps with or without lanyard and plastic caps.

CONEC offers a wide range of contacts for D-SUB and D-SUB Combination connectors. These can be purchased individually or installed directly in our D-SUB Combination connectors according to customer specifications. The portfolio includes signal contacts, high-current contacts, high-voltage contacts and coaxial contacts. The connection side of the cable is designed according to the processing purpose. All contact variants are high-quality precision machined contacts.

D-SUB Assembly tools & Accessories (52)

CONEC offers a range of processing tools for D-SUB connectors and contacts. In addition to hand-operated tools, such as various crimping pliers, installation and removal tools a manually operated lever press and the corresponding inserts are also available for use with higher quantities. Fastening and mounting accessories such as screws, spring washers, cable clamps etc. complete the range.

IP67 D-SUB Connectors

Industrial use in harsh environments requires connector systems that meet special requirements. Whether in traffic control systems, photovoltaic systems, construction machinery, surveillance cameras or off-shore wind farms, modern industrial applications place high demands on the connectors used. IP67 D-SUB connectors are used where dust and moisture occur and could impair the function of systems that are not specially protected.

  • The abbreviation IP stands for International Protection. In English-speaking countries, the abbreviation is often also translated as Ingress Protection (protection against ingress).The first number that follows “IP” corresponds to the connector’s ability to prevent solid particle ingress, such as sand and dust, from entering the enclosure. The second number corresponds to its ability to protect the enclosure against liquid ingress. In the case of IP67, the six (6) means that the connectors prevent dust from entering the enclosure. The seven (7) indicates that the connector will prevent ingress when the enclosure is immersed in one meter of water for 30 minutes.
  • CONEC IP67 D-SUB connectors are available in five standardized housing sizes, three different housing designs (CONEC SlimCon, Solid Body, Standard housing) and in the variants IP67 D-SUB Standard, IP67 D-SUB High Density,IP67 D-SUB Combination and IP67 D-SUB Hoods.
IP67 D-SUB Standard/High Density (345)

Data communication and control systems do not stop at outdoor use. Whether heat or cold, humidity or chemical substances, machines and therefore also connectors are used in all these environments and ensure that power and signals find their way reliably. In the field of waterproof IP67 D-SUB connectors Standard/High Density, CONEC not only offers a wide range of pole numbers, mounting and connection options, but also the option of choosing between 3 different housing variants (Solid Body, CONEC SlimCon, Standard Housing) depending on the application.

  • The advantage of the IP67 D-SUB solid body connectors is their one-piece zinc die-cast housing with nickel-plated surface, which protects the contact area even under high mechanical loads. In addition to the standard versions with solder cup, solder pin straight and angled termination types with various mounting options, high-density and combination D-SUB versions are also available.
  • The IP67 D-SUB CONEC SlimCon connector series offers very small dimensions in addition to its one-piece zinc die-cast housing. The size of the housings corresponds to the standard dimensions of D-SUB connectors, so no new cut-outs are required and a 1:1 conversion from standard IP20 systems to the IP67 system of the CONEC SlimCon series is possible. Compared to IP67 protected connectors with an extended sealing frame, IP67 D-SUB CONEC Slimcon connectors achieve a reduction of the occupied area of 48% to 52%.
IP67 D-SUB Combination (484)

IP67 D-SUB Combination connectors create the possibility to equip a proven design with new functionality and at the same time fulfil the requirements for use in harsh environmental conditions. By using high-current contacts, the power supply of the unit can be realised without an additional interface for the power supply. High-voltage contacts enable operating voltages of up to 2.8 kV. Fast signal transmission via shielded coaxial cables is achieved with the use of special coaxial contacts.

  • In the field of waterproof IP67 D-SUB Combination connectors, CONEC also offers a choice of 3 different housing variants (CONEC SlimCon, Solid Body, Standard Housing) depending on the application.
IP67 D-SUB Hoods (68)

IP67 Hoods are available in housing sizes 1 to 5 and can accommodate various cables with a diameter of 7 to 16 mm, depending on the size. In addition to a very compact hood, the portfolio also includes variants with a large interior and protective caps. The IP67 D-SUB hood versions are available shielded and unshielded – alternatively with short screw or jack screw.

17 SERIES IP67 RJ45 / USB / FO / Power Bayonet

Data communication is also required in outdoor applications. Whether in traffic engineering, in maritime environments or mobile phone applications, long transmission distances and impacts such as heat, rain, snow, salty mist and dust place high demands on all connectors. The IP67 connectors developed by CONEC provide reliable protection against environmental influences and mechanical stress. The broad portfolio includes RJ45, USB and Fibre Optic LC Duplex connectors in plastic, metalized plastic or full metal.

RJ45 Patch Cords (109)

CONEC offers RJ45 patch cords both with field attachable RJ45 with 8-pin cable (4x2xAWG24) and with overmolded RJ45 in the cable variants 4-pin (2×2 x AWG22) and 8-pin twisted pair cable (4x2xAWG26). As an option, the standard overmoulding in black can also be designed in a customer-specific color to quickly assign a patch cable to its port via the color in a complex wiring environment.

  • In addition to the pure RJ45 to RJ45 connections, connecting cables with M8x1 or M12x1 connectors on the B side are also possible. To route the RJ45 interface to the outside of the enclosure, the range is supplemented by socket connectors with overmoulded cable connection.
IP67 RJ45 (431)

The RJ45 connector most commonly used in office communication has been made suitable for industrial Ethernet applications. On this basis, CONEC has developed a versatile connector system for Cat. 5e and Cat. 6A that guarantees reliable protection and convenient connection options even under difficult and harsh environmental conditions. The housings are available in plastic black, plastic metallized or metal. For color coding, the plastic version is available in different colors on request.

  • IP67 RJ45 connectors are available in the version’s inline coupler with or without protective cap with M28 or bayonet locking for front and rear panel mounting. It is possible to choose between solder (with or without strain relief), IDC or screw termination types. Adapters with double bayonet are also available. Cable connectors with IDC termination, patch cables and protective caps complete the program.
IP67 USB (152)

Whether in traffic control systems, photovoltaic systems, construction machinery, surveillance cameras or offshore wind farms, the climatic conditions under which connectors have to work smoothly vary greatly: extreme heat, fine sand, extreme sub-zero temperatures, humidity and corrosion on the open sea.

  • On this basis, CONEC offers a versatile IP67 USB connector system in the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 versions. You can choose between the housing material variants, plastic black, plastic metallized and metal. CONEC IP67 USB connectors are available in the version’s inline coupler, cable connector and patch cable. Matching protective caps ensure the IP67 degree of protection even when the interfaces are not plugged.
IP67 Fiber Optic LC Duplex & Adapters (125)

In addition to IP67 RJ45 and IP67 USB, CONEC also offers ODVA-compatible IP67 fiber optic connectors for harsh indoor and outdoor environments in the 17 series. The system is based on a bayonet locking housing with integrated LC Duplex Connectors and Adapters. The bayonet locking provides an easy and secured connection also under harsh environmental conditions. The available materials for the housings are plastic, plastic metallized or nickel plated zinc die-cast for extreme harsh conditions. The LC connections are available for single mode or multimode transmission, depending on the requirements of the operated system.

  • The major application for these connectors are connections from base stations to the transmission modules based on antenna poles or for network connections on the last mile into end users homes. This program is supplemented by preassembled patch cables in various lengths.
  • For a variety of different Fiber Optic connections CONEC supplies a wide range of Fiber Optic adapters. To support different application requirements in regards to transmission. CONEC adapters are available with Phosphor- Bronze or ceramic sleeves for precise positioning of the connector ferrules to each other. Adapters are available in both, plastic or zinc die-cast housing. The adapters are offered in simplex and duplex configurations. All CONEC Fiber Optic Adapters are supplied with preinstalled dust caps.
IP67 Power Bayonet (31)

With the IP67 Power Bayonet series, CONEC offers a power connector variant in addition to data and bus connectors in its range of IP67 connectors with bayonet locking.

  • IP67 power bayonet connectors are available as 2- and 3-pos. versions.The 2-pos. version of the connector is primarily intended for use with direct voltage up to 48 V DC, while the 3-pos. version is designed with a leading contact for alternating voltages up to 250 VAC with protective earth contact (PE).
  • The design and cut-outs of the new power connectors are based on the existing IP67 RJ45, USB and fiber optic series, so that the systems can be flexibly equipped.

CONEC Hybrid Connectors

The main objective of such global standardization is to ensure end-to-end compatibility of devices, cables and connectors for customers and users. This is done by ensuring stable supply chains and second-source strategies on the one hand,and by defining product reliability criteria on established and well-known standards on the other.

  • For conventional wiring of motors, servo-drives or linear units/drives, time and costs for cabling, maintenance and diagnostics are very high. Separate cables from the switch cabinet are used for the power supply and control of every single motor. This procedure does not only require much space, but also causes high costs.
  • With the new CONEC Hybrid connectors series, a compact hybrid connector system has been developed, combining power supply and data transmission in one single connector. This one-cable tech­nique cor­re­sponds to mod­ern con­nec­tion and in­ter­face wiring tech­nol­ogy.
  • Depending on the application, four sizes, B12, B17, B23 and B40 are available. While the number of pins and the permitted voltages vary depending on the size, the 360° shielded data core is always the same and designed for industrial ethernet Cat 5 with wire cross section AWG22. CONEC presents this hybrid connector system in the form of connectors with overmoulded cable, field attachable connectors as well as receptacles for device-side installation.
Hybrid overmoulded (19)

Hybrid overmoulded connectors are offered as single ended and connection cables in various standard lengths and are electrically tested with regard to transmission properties according to IEC 11801 Cat 5e. All four sizes (B12, B17, B23, B40) are equipped with a bayonet locking mechanismand thus guarantee a fast and secure connection.

For applications in which pre-assembled cables cannot be used, CONEC hybrid connectors are also available as field-terminated versions. The poka-yoke principle enables error-free assembly thanks to a clear arrangement of the components and clear colour markings corresponding to the wire colour of the cable on the contact carrier.

Overmoulded (2248)

Connectors with overmoulded cables are available in sizes M8, M12, 7/8 and round24. The overmoulded connector series reduce costs and time during installation and offer end-to-end protection from the connector to the cable, including tamper protection.

  • In addition to standard coding and cables, CONEC also offers BUS variants with B, D, P and X coding as well as power versions with K, L, S and T coding. The screw connection is offered as the standard locking type and the portfolio also includes snap-on and screw-snap variants in the M8 range. The M12 quick-release version with bayonet locking completes the range in the M12 size.
  • Especially for municipal technology, the agricultural sector and the chemical industry, CONEC offers overmoulded M12x1 connector variants with coloured plastic coupling elements. In addition to the standard zinc die-cast or turned stainless steel versions, the plastic elements open up new fields of application.
Field attachable (116)

Progressive decentralized automation, keyword Industry 4.0, requires flexible and individual wiring directly in the field and on the machine in certain areas. The constantly growing number of sensors for monitoring operating and machine states also requires the use of field-attachable connector variants to enable flexible electrical connection directly in the field.

  • CONEC offers field-attachable connectors in sizes M8x1, M12x1, 7/8″ and Round24 with a wide range of termination technologies. The portfolio includes connectors for signal-, data transmission power connectors and the combination of super-fast EtherCAT communication with a 24 V power supply (EtherCAT P).
Sockets (791)

CONEC offers a comprehensive range of socket connectors in a wide variety of sizes, designs and connection types. Choose from sizes M8x1, M12x1 or 7/8″, flanges with stranded wire, PCB contacts or overmoulded variants for front or rear panel mounting, with PG9 or M16x1.5 thread.

  • Versions for direct PCB mounting in axial and angled design as well as insulation bodies for SMT/THR processing are also available.
  • In addition to screw and screw-snap locking systems, CONEC also offers socket connectors with M12 bayonet quick locking. The bayonet socket connectors with stranded wire connection or direct PCB connection are equipped with an internal thread in the mating area and therefore guarantee 100 % backwards compatibility with standard M12 connectors. This means that new systems can be fitted with the M12 bayonet on the device side without any concerns.
Power Connectors (2)

M12 size connectors are used in many areas of application, from signal transmission in sensor technology to data transmission in fieldbus technology. The M12 power connectors open up the power range. The challenge in power electronics is the high voltage and tracking resistance as well as the transmission of higher currents. CONEC offers M12 power connectors in the codings K, L, S and T. The portfolio includes overmolded and field attachable connector versions as well as socket connectors. Socket connectors are available for both front panel and rear panel mounting. If installation space is not the main criterion, connectors in sizes 7/8″ and round24 are also available.

BUS-Systems (1)

With the introduction of information technology into industrial production and the networking of all areas of industry, the demands on connector manufacturers are increasing. A network infrastructure must be created that enables a good connection to the IT systems at control level on the one hand and good real-time properties for communication between the decentralized field devices and the control systems on the other. High reliability and fail-safe operation are basic requirements for connectors. CONEC offers connectors for Profibus DP, DeviceNet, EtherCAT P and Industrial Ethernet up to 10 Gbit for bus technology. In addition to socket connectors, field attachable connectors and open-ended connection cables, connection cables with RJ45 on the B-side or pure patch cables RJ45 – RJ45 are also offered.

  • These connectors were designed specially for use with sensor pipe mounting. Depending on theversion, these components come with a screw-on, snap-in or screw-on/snap-in connection. All versions are available either with solder or board contacts for direct circuit board connection. The transparent versions are designed with a recess for attaching a SMD-LED. The following versions are available:
  • M12x1: soldered and printed version, black or transparent plastic, 4-, 5- and 8-pos. M8x1: soldered and printed version, black or transparent plastic, semi-metal or solid metal, 3- and 4-pos. M8x1: Print version, built-in coupling, 360° shielded, 4-pos.
Junction systems (140)

Juctions systems provide a cost-effective and practical wiring system in the field for sensors and actors with a cabling system that meets IP67 requirement. Junction systems are used anywhere sensor and actor signals need to be extended quickly and easily for control systems. Individual signals are either connected directly to the system via a homerun cable or via a connection interface.

Accessories Circular Connectors (14)

Heavy Equipment connectors

Connectors for use in agricultural, construction or municipal technology are often exposed to extreme loads. The overmoulded versions of the AT, ATM, DT, VSS Superseal, ISOBUS, CPC and HDSCS connector series developed by CONEC fulfil at least protection class IP67 (DT and Superseal connectors even IP67/IP69K). CONEC connectors for use in agricultural, construction and municipal technology therefore guarantee trouble-free operation even in the most difficult applications, such as underground, at sub-zero temperatures or in dusty, hot environments. CONEC agricultural and construction machinery connectors are used, for example, in the field of data transmission for camera signals or to ensure communication between tractors and implements or agricultural management software.

AT/DT Connectors (196)

The overmoulded AT and DT connectors from CONEC offer a high level of IP protection (IP67/IP69K).The overmoulding ensures continuous protection from the housing to the cable. No liquid can penetrate the cable between the sheath and the core. The AT series is available as 2-pos. female connector with or without protection circuit. The DT connector portfolio comprises number of poles 2 to 12 as female or male version. Several number of poles are also available with protection circuit suppressor diode / LED , terminating cap, double outlet or angled.

ATM Connectors (28)

The ATM connector series is designed as a cable-to-cable connection. It locks securely and without tools via a latch. The series is not only used in agricultural, agricultural and vehicle technology, but also frequently in process automation and control technology. The overmoulded 2-pin ATM connectors are available as plugs and sockets in the variants connecting cable with open cable end or connecting cable. The wire cross-section of the standard products is 0.5 mm². Versions up to a maximum of 1.0 mm² are available on request. ATM connectors are specified for a maximum current carrying capacity of 7.5 A and fulfil the IP67 degree of protection.

Superseal Connectors (50)

Whether tractors, excavators or heavy construction machinery, the IVCM (Industrial Vehicles and Construction Machines) segment places high demands on the connectors used. The overmoulded VSS Superseal connectors developed by CONEC offer optimum protection even in the most difficult applications, such as underground, at sub-zero temperatures or in dusty, hot environments.

  • The VSS Superseal connectors are designed as a cable-to-cable connection and latch/lock securely with the mating connector via a latch. Thanks to the CONEC overmoulding, the entire connector fulfils the IP67 / IP69K degree of protection when mated. The CONEC portfolio of Superseal connectors includes number of poles 2 to 6 in female or male versions. Several number of poles are also available as terminating plug and double outlet.
Junction system type S, M, L (2)

The degree of automation in mobile machinery used in agriculture, forestry and construction is constantly increasing, as is the need to equip machines with sensors and other electrical components in a decentralised manner. In vehicle construction, the individual distribution systems can be used wherever decentralised wiring harnesses are required, on the vehicle, on the trailer or to connect the combination. The areas of application range from the control of lighting to the wiring of entire sensor and actuator units. The CONEC distribution system offers a flexible option for integrating moulded branches/outlets into electrical connection lines such as wiring harnesses. This ensures that the continuous cable sheathing retains its full functional integrity even at the splice point (in the distributor).

CPC connectors are used in agricultural, agricultural and vehicle technology as well as in control cabinets, robotics, injection moulding machines and machine tools. It is a robust connector design which, unlike the other heavy equipment connectors in the CONEC programme, has a screw connection and is smaller in size than an Isobus connector, for example. The CONEC CPC portfolio includes size 13 in 9-pos. and 7-pos. versions and size 17 in 3-pos. version. In addition to standard products with open end cable and protection cap versions customised connection cables are also possible.

HDSCS Connectors (3)

In the commercial vehicle industry and in agricultural, construction and municipal technology as well as in the off-road sector, connector systems are required that offer extremely high performance even under the most difficult environmental conditions, such as sub-zero temperatures or in dusty, hot environments.

  • The HDSCS (Heavy Duty Sealed Connector System) connectors or even complete HDSCS systems with cable are designed precisely for this purpose.The HDSCS interface is used for heavy-duty transport, truck and trailer cabling, for example modern systems such as Ad-Blu tanks and pump systems, exhaust systems and rear lights. CONEC currently offers the 8-pos. type C connector.
